Not to sound like Garfield here, but I hate Mondays. I can’t sleep in. I can’t catch a matinee. But being a contributing member of society insists I wake up early. So if you’re like me and need an extra boost to get your week started, here are the best #MondayMotivation tweets I could find.
Are You Making the Best Changes?

Whether you like it or not, life is full of changes. It’s a part of the human experience. But are you making the very best changes? Given that the changes we make define us, it’s certainly worth considering. Unsurprisingly, change isn’t random. Everything happens for a reason, and when you break it down, the changes we make stem from our desire to be better (though it may not always seem that way). So how do you determine your best path forward, to be the best you?

When Do You Feel In Sync?

Being ‘in sync’ is more than a file in the cloud. It’s a feeling, it’s a rush. There’s actually a word for it: Synchromysticism. It’s defined as “the art of realizing meaningful coincidences in the seemingly mundane with mystical or esoteric significance.” In this sense, it’s more than a feeling, it’s a magical moment! When you’re on the same wavelength, in a groove, or clicking with others, it’s synchromysticism, and it feels great!

How to Assemble the Ultimate Dream Team With Dunbar’s Number(s)

The Justice League has 6 members. The Ghostbusters had 4. The Scooby-Doo gang has 5. When leading a new project, the team you assemble is critical. To bring together the ultimate dream team, you must evaluate skills, time, budgets, and perhaps most importantly, the number of people. Is there an optimal number of team members, though? Is there a way for you to facilitate meaningful connections in the workplace that lead to stronger relationships? Robin Dunbar says yes!

‘The Office’ in Sync: How Dunder Mifflin Could Have Benefited from the Cloud

Michael Scott once described an office as “a place to live life to the fullest, to the max,” yet we know that Dunder Mifflin was not really doing anything to the max…other than chaos, maybe. In the hit NBC TV show The Office, which ran from 2005 to 2013, the fictional organization Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, and more specifically its Scranton branch, was not ahead of its time or very productive, though its cliché characters mixed with sitcom craziness made for incredible comedy and relatable themes as the employees went about their jobs providing Scranton with its paper needs.

But what if Dunder Mifflin had been ahead of its time? Cloud tech didn’t really exist in the corporate world in 2005, but hypothetically, what if it did? Businesses all over the world today are using Sync to modernize their workflows and get work done. Here’s how Dunder Mifflin could have used Sync to overcome that chaos to achieve workplace productivity and harmony to the max. Reboots are all the rage these days, so if NBC or Peacock are looking for ways to revitalize The Office, we’re happy to consult.

Attention leaders:

Effective communication can have a significant impact on the well-being and success of your team, and by extension, your entire organization. But with two-thirds of managers reporting that they feel uncomfortable communicating with their employees, it’s clear that creating an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and appreciated is easier said than done. So how can you foster positive communication that motivates, builds connections, and brings out the best in your team?

COVID-19 got you Down? 6 Ways to Fight Pandemic Fatigue and Stay Positive

What do you miss most from before the pandemic? I miss getting coffee with friends. You know, sitting back in those comfy café chairs, watching and listening to people milling about in the moment and savouring that sweet dark roast aroma in the air. All while catching up in person, face-to-face, talking about anything and everything not related to COVID.

Now, staying at home, avoiding people, and binging Netflix all day every day seems to be the new normal – at least for the time being. Turning our homes into office spaces, teaching spaces and virtual meet-up places has perhaps altered the definition of in-real-life for an entire generation. 2020 was a year full of unexpected surprises and interruptions to all the things that we love most. And while 2021 seems to be off to a pandemic start, there’s finally some hope, and perhaps an end in sight!

In the meantime, how can we stay positive and keep on going?

Leaders, not workers, are responsible to manage organizational stress. Here are three steps to start.

While reviewing our team performance this past year, something stood out: by December, typically a time to feel stressed, we were energized and gaining momentum in ways we hadn’t in the last 12 months. We had overcome obstacles that could have pulled us apart and pushed us in the wrong direction. We were creating engaging content to help individuals and teams get in sync. We were thriving. But, how?

Keep calm while you tackle your to-do list.

If you’re worrying, “I have so much to do and not enough time,” you’re not alone. With the holidays approaching, it’s normal to feel overwhelmed by mounting work and the pressure of hosting and gifting.

With more stress and less sleep, usual everyday interactions don’t come easily. You might snap at anyone who asks you for something, wish to wave a magic wand that clears your mountain of tasks, and run (literally) from your desk to where you need to go—yesterday I ran into my yoga class late and flustered, while everyone relaxed in shavasana. Sigh.

What Iconic Content Creators do to Overcome Mental Blocks

Movement is medicine.

I caught a bad case of writer’s block in April. My creative spirit was dim, and I was desperate to get my mojo back. When a friend asked me to join her on a 127-kilometre hike, I initially said, “no,” because I should have been brainstorming stories. When my partner said, “go, it will give you inspiration,” I was reminded of the power of nature to rejuvenate creativity. I set off into the Australian bush: each step became an inquisitive spark of new content, wouldn’t it be cool to write about how sport can help us thrive in our lives?

How to Build a Winning Team at Work — Lessons from Women’s Soccer

Six strategies for success.

With three games left in the season, my women’s soccer team won the league and claimed first place with a 13-point lead. It might surprise you that last year we were a losing team. We’re a skilled bunch who strategize, play our positions, and strike hard, but that’s not why we became a winning team. We won this year because we overcame our self-doubt and built self-belief. On and off the pitch we practiced three things consistently: communication, connection, and confidence.
