How do I install when running an anti-virus program?

When installing the Sync desktop client, there are anti-virus programs that may cause Sync not to function correctly.  Below is a list of anti-virus software and how to setup Sync to run.

How to run Sync with McAfee Livesafe

After Sync installs it will be unable to Sync completely, with McAfee there are two functions that inhibit this; ‘Real Time Scanning’ and ‘Web and Email Protection’.

  1. Disable Real Time Scanning, click ‘Navigation’ on the top left. From there, under ‘Virus and Spyware Protection’ click ‘Schedule and run scans’. Click ‘Real-Time Scanning’ and turn it off.
  2. In order to stay protected click on ‘Scheduled Scans’ and select a ‘schedule a scan’. This will scan your computer in the traditional way and not lock up any files Sync is trying to use at the same time.
  3. To allow Sync through the firewall without any issues, under ‘Web and Email Protection’ click ‘View firewall and anti spam settings’. After that, click ‘Firewall’ then choose the ‘Internet Connections for Programs’ setting. Scroll down to ‘sync-worker.exe’ and press ‘Edit’. Under ‘Access’ and ‘Incoming and outgoing’ choose ‘Open to all devices’ then turn ‘Net Guard’ off. Hit ‘Save’.
