How do I stop Windows Defender Firewall from blocking Sync in Windows 10?

Some Firewall and Antivirus programs, such as the Windows Defender Firewall may block Sync from working properly.

Here is how to add Sync as an exception:

  1. Click on Start and type control panel on the search bar then click on the search result showing Control Panel Desktop app

  2.

  3. On the Control Panel window, click on View by: and select Small Icons (if it has not yet been set that way) then go to Windows Defender Firewall

  4.

  5. On the Windows Defender Firewall screen, click on Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall

  6.

  7. Check if Sync is already on the list of Allowed Apps and features. If not, click on Change Settings then select Allow another app and click on Browse

  8.

  9. Type the following on the File name: field and click Open

    C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe

    or

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe

Note: Replace yourusernamewith your actual Windows Username. If you’re not sure what your username is, hold down the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys on your keyboard all at once and click on Task Manager. Go to the Users tab to see your username.

  10.

  11. Click on Add. Repeat steps #4 and #5, this time, type: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Sync\sync-worker.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Sync\sync-taskbar.exe\sync-worker.exe
  12. Confirm if Sync.com and sync-worker.exe are now on the Allowed apps and features list.
  13. Click OK to close the window.
