Installation Error: #1603

Background:

Error 1603 is a general Windows error that means the Sync installer failed to run.

Next steps:

Ensure your Windows User Account type is set to Administrator before installing Sync.

How to check if you are an Administrator:

  1. Select Start, and type Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel window, select User Accounts> Change your account type (or select Properties and then select the Group Membership tab if your computer is joined to a domain)
  3. Make sure Administrator is selected. If you can’t select the Administrator option, contact the person who has Administrator rights on your computer and ask them to give you Admin privileges

Still not working? Contact us if the issue persists, even after running as an Administrator.

Additional information:

1603 errors during installation are typically a result of a Windows System Policy preventing the Sync installer from running. You will need Administrator privileges to install Sync, and you may need to make changes to any Windows system policy that Prohibits User Installs.
